Apple offer new iPad 3 refunds in Australia amid 4G legal dispute

Apple has announced it is to offer full refunds to Australian owners of the new iPad who feel mislead by the tablets 4G billing amid on-going legal disputes with the next-generation capable wireless connectivity options.

Taking Apple to court the Australian consumer watchdog deemed Apple has mislead consumers through the new iPads 4G moniker with the tablets lack of compatibility with the southern hemisphere countrys 4G networks seeing Apple attacked for claimed false advertising.

Also branded as 4G in the UK, a nation where 4G networks are not available, the third-generation Apple tablet has been targeted by Australias Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) which recently said that Apples recent promotion of the new iPad with WiFi + 4G is misleading because it represents to Australian consumers that the product can, with a SIM card, connect to a 4G mobile data network in Australia, when this is not the case.

With the complaint lodged with the Federal Court in Melbourne and the case expected to be brought before a judge following Easter, Apple has revealed it is to publish a clarification whilst reports have revealed the Cupertino based company is to offer refunds to disgruntled customers.

Officially unveiled on March 7th, the new iPad touched down in the UK, US and a host of other countries last Friday, March 16th, with a bevy of new features and high-end specs.

As well as the new eye catching Retina display party piece, the new iPad boasts an improved iSight 5-megapixel camera on the rear and an ARM A5X dual-core processor with quad-core graphics. Due to this selection of new innards, which inc ludes a dramatically larger battery, the new iPad lines up marginally thicker than its predecessor, the market dominating iPad 2.
