Tim Tebow says he has a lot of respect for Antonio Cromartie (below) despite comments the cornerback made before the trade became official. Cromartie clarified his coments, saying 'He’s going to bring another element to the Jets.'
Tim Tebow doesnt harbor any ill will towards Antonio Cromartie after the Jets c ornerback tweeted that the team didnt need the left-handed quarterback before they traded for him last week. Cromartie clarified his remarks to the Daily News after the deal was done.
I think its great because he had his quarterbacks back, which is what you want, Tebow said on ESPN 1050 radio on Friday. Thats what you want. You want guys that are supporting their quarterback. I think thats great. I commend him for doing that. Ive been friends with Cromartie even though he is a FSU guy its hard to say but Ive been friends with him for two or three years back from the ESPYS. I have a lot of respect for him. I feel he has respect for me. He was sticking up for his quarterback. And good for him.
Cromartie told the News last week that he believed that Tebow would bring an added dimension to the Jets.
I dont have any regrets, Cromartie said about his earlier tweets. I think a lot of people took what I said the wrong way. People took it as me dissing Tebow. I never dissed Tebow. I just said we dont need him on our team because Mark is our quarterback. I would never degrade an NFL player because hes in the NFL for a reason. Tebows proven over the past couple years why hes in the NFL. I would never take a shot at any NFL player. Hes been a winner all his life. Hes pulled his teams out of predicaments. Im not the kind of person that would degrade or belittle someone in the NFL.
Hes going to bring another element to the Jets, Cromartie added. Hes a winner. Hes a guy that never quits.
