Scheduling issues have pushed the child-sex-abuse trial of former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky from mid-May until early June, the Harrisburg Patriot-News is reporting.
The trial had been set to begin May 14, but Judge John Cleland today ordered the trial postponed until June 5 "to accommodate various logistical contingencies that have arisen."
Cleland's action is separate from the postponement sought last week by Sandusky's lawyer, who asked the judge to dismiss the charges because they aren't specific enough to bring to trial. Attorney Joe Amendola wants the trial delayed, jurors sequestered and more information from the prosecution.
< p>Prosecutors have filed their response, and Cleland is reviewing the arguments.
