Sen. Richard Lugar has settled a dispute over his residency that will allow him to continue to vote in Indiana, which the Republican has represented for six terms.
Lugar's campaign announced today the senator and the Marion County Elections Board reached an agreement that will allow Lugar to vote in Indiana as long as he changes his voter registration to his family farm.
The residency dispute has loomed over Lugar as he seeks a seventh term. He is facing a GOP primary challenge from state Treasurer Richard Mourdock.
The Democratic-controlled board ruled earlier this month that Lugar was ineligible to vote in Marion County because he had sold the Indianapolis house used as his voter registration address in 1977.
Lugar and his wife, Charlene, own a house and live in McLean, Va.
"With this new legal guidance the issue of the Lugars' voting registration is resolved. Any further challenge will clearly be nothing more than continued pettiness on the part of a handful of disgruntled political opponents," said a statement from Lugar's campaign.
