Arjen Robben: Would relish a meeting with Real but not getting too excited
Arjen Robben admitted that the prospect of facing Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals was exciting after beating Marseille 2-0 away from home in the first leg of their last-eight tie, but insisted that Bayern Munich would remain focused on finishing the task at hand.
Robben scored the second goal at the Stade Velodrome on Wednesday night after Mario Gomez had opened the scoring against the out-of-form French side.
Bayern will be overwhelming favourites to secure progression at the Allianz Arena in next week's second leg, and could then be set to meet Real Madrid in the next round.
Real are in a similarly commanding position in their tie after beating APOEL Nicosia 3-0 in Cyprus on Tuesday, and Robben would love to line up against his former club.
Dangerous
However, the Dutchman is not getting carried away just yet and is happy to savour a well-earned win in the first leg against Marseille.
"We always kept believing and now we are in a very good position," he told Sky Sports.
"It is a dangerous thing. Even before the game people were talking about the semi-final between Bayern and Madrid, but we still have to play one more match.
"This was a very good match, a 2-0 away win, and Madrid also won 3-0, so the possibilities are big that we will meet each other in the semi-finals and it would be an exciting match."
