Amazon Kindle Touch UK release date confirmed for April 27th

Online retail giant Amazon has announced its currently US exclusive touchscreen eReader is to be made available to a British audience with an official Amazon Kindle Touch UK release date set for next month.

Expanding its UK offering of market dominating eReaders, the Amazon Kindle Touch and Amazon Kindle Touch 3G will hit British markets in the coming weeks with the touchscreen touting offering available for pre-order now for those keen to get more hands-on with their digital books.

UK customers have been asking us to make Kindle Touch available on Amazon.co.uk and we are excited to do so today, said Jorrit Van der Meulen, Vice President, Kindle, Amazon EU Srl. We continue to see that people read more with Kindlereaders in the UK buy an average of 4 times the number of books they purchased prior to owning a Kindle. With the launch of Kindle Touch and Kindle Touc h 3G we expect to see this reading renaissance continue.

Despite outing the upcoming Amazon Kindle Touch UK arrival, the online retailer come hardware powerhouse has failed to offer any indication as to when UK consumers can expect to get their mitts on the companys first tablet device, the Amazon Kindle Fire.

Amazon Kindle Touch UK Release Date and Price

Confirmed as heading to the UK on April 27th, the Amazon Kindle Touch and Touch 3G will join the current Kindle offerings next month with the six-inch offering to build on the companys reputation as the worlds leading eReader provider.

Available for pre-now from Amazon.co.uk the Amazon Kindle Touch and Kindle Touch 3G will set wannabe owners back 109 and 169 respectively with the latter allowing for eBook searches and downloads on the move.

Amazon Kindle Touch Features

Allowing users to comfortably hold the device in either hand, the Amazon Kindle Touch weighs in at just 213grams (the 3G model at 220grams) with a simple tap of the 6-inch touchscreen display changing the page with minimal fuss or traditional fiddly swiping motions.

Capable of storing up to 3,000 eBooks at any one time, the Kindle Touch boasts Wi-Fi connectivity for simply downloads with the companys X-ray feature allowing users to get an overview of the books key features from the library menu.
