Senator appears to call Obama 'stupid'

A Republican senator appears to have called President Obama "stupid" over his recent comments on the Supreme Court's heath care case.

Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, employing the unique writing style he uses on Twitter, sent out this message yesterday: "Constituents askd why i am not outraged at PresO attack on supreme court independence. Bcause Am ppl r not stupid as this x prof of con law."

That last line translated: "Because American people are not stupid as this ex-professer of constitutional law."

Obama, who is indeed a former law professor, said last week that he expects the Supreme Court to uphold the health care law, and that an adverse ruling would constitute "judicial activism" by "unelected" justices.

Grassely deals with Supreme Court issues as top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Obama political aide David Axelrod fired back at Grassley on Twitter, mocking the senator's shorthand.

"Heads up, Sen. Grassley," Obama said. "I think a 6-year-old hijacked your account and is sending out foolish Tweets just to embarrass you!"
