More than half of the tablets owned in the U.S. that run Google's Android operating system are Amazon's Kindle Fire, says research from ComScore.
As of February, 54.4 of Android tablets owners have a Kindle Fire, followed by Samsung's Galaxy Tab line with 15.4 and the Motorola Xoom with 7.
It's a sharp jump from December, one month after the Fire launched in the U.S. Four months ago, 29.4 owned a Fire, followed by nearly 24 who have a Galaxy Tab.
On Thursday, Amazon revealed during its first-quarter earnings call that the Fire remained its best-selling item but did not disclose figures.
The study also found that when it comes to consuming content on tablets, size matters. According to ComScore, tablets with larger screens boasted a higher level of content consumption than their smaller counterparts.
