The Avengers" stars lit up the red carpet Saturday at the New York premiere of the hotly anticipated blockbuster.

Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo were among the A-listers in town for the screening, which capped the Tribeca Film Festival.

Its great to be home, said Ruffalo, who plays The Hulk. He then blew a kiss toward the fans near the red carpet. This thing is extra special, he said.

Rubbing shoulders with the stars was Steve Borzoni, 38, who won a Daily News contest to attend the event. Borzoni walked the red carpet with his 7-year-old son, Tommy. Ive been looking forward to seeing this movie for such a long time, so winning was just perfect, said Borzoni, a marketing manager from Rye Brook, Westchester County. That was one of the best experiences weve ever had.

Before the screening started near the shadow of the new World Trade Center, Downey told the crowd, We would like to dedicate this screening to the first responders of the NYPD and FDNY, as applause and a standing ovation drowned him out. Ethan Sacks
