Texas Gov. Rick Perry joined the Mitt Romney bandwagon last night and endorsed him for president, saying in a statement that his former rival has "earned" the GOP nomination through "hard work, a strong organization and a disciplined message."
Perry also saluted Romney's "vision and record of private sector success."
You may recall that Perry and Romney at times bitterly went after each other in the Republican campaign and sparred frequently in debates. Pe rry once charged Romney with "vulture capitalism" for his tenure at Bain Capital, which invested in start ups and bought companies that ended up having layoffs.
Perry had backed Newt Gingrich after suspending his own presidential campaign, but the former House speaker indicated yesterday that he'll bow out next week.
Romney tweeted: "Great to have @GovernorPerry's support. Looking forward to working with him - a lot to be done before November."
