Brittney Griner takes Muffet McGraw's postgame comments as a compliment after Baylor wins national championship.

DENVER A postgame comment by Notre Dame coach Muffet McGraw about the prowess of Baylor star Brittney Griner caused a stir in the world of social media Tuesday night.

After the Irish lost to Baylor 80-61 in the womens championship, McGraw appraised Griners play by saying, I think shes one of a kind. I think shes like a guy playing with women, adding that the 6-foot-8 junior is the best post player shes ever seen.

The comments quickly became a topic of debate on Twitter, because Griner has endured taunts about her height and dominant play all season, and Baylor coach Kim Mulkey called out anyone who insulted her player in a news conference Monday.

Asked about McGraws comment, Griner said she took it as a compliment. McGraw said later thats how she meant it.

The Notre Dame coach said, I would hope that it was clear to those in attendance at Tuesdays press conference that my comments were meant to be complimentary, and in reference to her style of play and her dominance in our game, nothing more.
