Former Met Phil Humber gets congratulations after tossing a no-hitter.

Keep the faith, Mets fans.

After watching his friend and former Mets minor-league teammate Phil Humber throw a perfect game for the White Sox Saturday, Mike Pelfrey said the Mets will get their franchises first no-hitter eventually.

Obviously, a lot of luck is involved in that. Its not easy to get through one inning let alone nine, Pelfrey said Sunday. But, I think one day its gonna happen. I cant tell you when, but its gonna happen eventually.

It has been 7,982 games without a Mets pitcher throwing a no-hitter, according to nonohitters.com, a website dedicated to documenting the Mets no-hit futility.

Pelfrey bonded with Humber as the two first-round picks tried to make it through the Mets farm system.

Humber, the third overall pick in the 2004 draft, had Tommy John surgery in 2005. He struggled to regain his velocity after he returned. The Mets used him as a chip in the trade for Johan Santana in 2007.

FRANCISCO FIXED?
Terry Collins is sticking with cl oser Frank Francisco, who has been charged with a run in each of his last four appearances. Sunday morning, Francisco worked with pitching coach Dan Warthen on a mechanical flaw. The closer was opening up his body on his delivery... The Tom Seaver bobbleheads, the first of a series of five in honor of the Mets 50th anniversary season, will now be given out May 5.
