Carmelo Anthony joins Edie Falco (l.) and Jake Cannavale (c.) in Sundayâs episode of âNurse Jackieâ on Showtime.
Can't get enough Melo?
Fans of Knicks star Carmelo Anthony will get a chance to see the All-Star do double duty on Sunday. After Anthony and the Knicks continue to try and lock up a playoff spot Sunday with a Garden matinee against the Miami Hea t, fans can watch Carmelo the actor Sunday night.
Anthony will make a guest appearance on Showtime's hit dark comedy 'Nurse Jackie' playing a fallen pro hoops player. In the episode, scheduled to air Sunday at 9 p.m. ET, Anthony plays one of an eclectic group of patients who participate in a group therapy session with the show's title character (played by Edie Falco) at a Manhattan rehab facility.
Falco plays an emergency room nurse at a Big Apple hospital with a weakness for prescription drugs in the Showtime series which is currently in its fourth season.
It's not the first time Anthony has traded in his sneakers for a script on a hot TV show. On Sept. 28, he appeared in an episode of 'Law & Order: SVU' playing himself.
But fans of the Knicks don't need to worry about acting being a distraction for the Melo man. The Knicks' leading scorer - averaging over 21 points per game for a club that currently holds a two-game lead for the final playof f spot in the Eastern Conference - filmed both segments during the NBA's lengthy offseason lockout.
"It's things that people like myself and athletes wouldn't normally do, especially Nurse Jackie," Anthony told HuffPost Sports at the time of his SVU appearance. "So, I definitely wanted to just do that, just do something different."
