Man found in bleeding in nightclub dies

Cops are investigating the mysterious death of clubgoer found bleeding in a stairwell.

A 27-year-old man died early Saturday, just hours after he was found bleeding in the stairwell of a sleek midtown nightclub, police sources said.< /p>

A waitress found the unidentified man slouched on the stairs near a second-floor entrance inside District 36 on W. 36th St. near Fifth Ave. about 3 a.m., the sources said.

The man, who was bleeding from his mouth and was missing several teeth, was taken outside, where police found him a few minutes later, sources said.

A team of EMTs rushed the injured man to Bellevue Hospital, where he died over an hour later.

The citys medical examiner will later determine the cause of death, but investigators suspect the man was beaten inside the club, sources said. The victim appeared to have a broken jaw and bruising to his body, sources said.

Savannah Pierce was planning to go to the Koreatown hotspot Saturday night.

Ive never seen anyone fight here before, she said. Everyone is always so happy-go-lucky.

She described the club as a rave scene. A lot of light shows, a lot of big DJs and a lot of drugs.

The venue is a former clothing factory, according to the clubs website, where interior photos show a showy dance floor thats bedazzled with colorful stage light special effects. Surrounded by cheap clothing boutiques, theres also a ballroom dance studio above District 36.

Saturday, police were poring over footage from surveillance cameras inside the club. No arrests have been made.
