Center Tyson Chandler is latest Knick to be added to list of injury woes.
Tyson Chandlers left knee appeared to buckle and suddenly the Knicks didnt look so dangerous anymore.
Chandler managed to finish the game and the veteran center the heart and soul o f the Knicks defense does not think the injury is serious. Chandler is not scheduled to have an MRI, but his status for Tuesdays home game against Boston is unclear.
It was just a bad collision, Chandler said. Its just sore. I should be fine.
Chandlers knee was wrapped after the game and he was limping noticeably. He managed to play eight minutes in the fourth quarter but was clearly limited. He failed to grab a single rebound. Chandler claims to have bumped his knee with Miamis Joel Anthony in the third quarter. He then missed both free throws and was replaced one minute later.
LIN WAITS AND SEES
Jeremy Lin, who had surgery two weeks ago today, is hoping to begin light jogging by the end of the week.
I think hes still on the bike and probably doing pool work, probably, Mike Woodson said. But no jogging as far as I know.
When Lin spoke with reporters last Sunday, he expressed optimism that he could return for the playoffs although he didnt think it was realistic that hed be ready for the first round.
The original timetable given when the Knicks announced that Lin had a torn meniscus in his left knee was six weeks.
According to our (doctors), hes doing everything hes supposed to do and hes feeling pretty good, so thats a positive, Woodson said. So weve just got to wait, wait the (six-week) term and see what happens.
NO SURPRISE
Steve Novak is no longer sneaking up on anyone. Chicago and Miami paid extra attention to Novak and were committed to not allowing him to beat them from the outside. Against the Heat, Novak went 2-for-5 from 3-point range.
INS & OUTS
Chris Bosh finished with 16 points and had 14 of Miamis 47 rebounds. LeBron James and Dwyane Wade each had six turnovers. Former Knick centers Eddy Curry and Ronny Turiaf were both on the inactive list yesterday.
James on guarding his good friend, Carmelo Anthony: Guys like Carmelo, KD (Kevin Durant), Kobe (Bryant), theyre going to make shots. Theyre flat-out scorers. D-Rose (Derrick Rose) is another guy. Theyre going to make shots and hopefully down the stretch you try to continue to wear on them and hopefully they start to miss a few. Thats what I was able to do.
