Robin Roberts cuts the cake in honor of her 10th anniversary working on ‘Good Morning America.’
ABC News Good Morning America Monday marked the 10th anniversary of host Robin Roberts on the show.
The milestone was marked with six-plus minute segment on the show that featured clips of Roberts reports, some serious, some not, through the years.
Ten years ago, Ro bin Roberts took her seat, co-host George Stephanopoulos said at the start of the segment. What a decade it has been.
Roberts started on the show as a news anchor, working alongside then-hosts Diane Sawyer and Charlie Gibson.
When it ended, she was presented a photo book from the staff and later in the show, a cake made by Cake Boss Buddy Valastro.
I love this family, Roberts said on-air. What a blessing, Charlie and Diane, to have learned from the absolute best like that. They taught me what family is and thats what I have here, Ill be forever grateful to them and everyone here.
Marking Roberts anniversary follows on the recent news that GMA had beaten rival Today for the first time in 851 weeks with total viewers.
The day I remember best is when you moved from the news desk over to the host desk, and Diane and I put a third chair there, Gibson said in a taped segment. I remember you were very nervous that first day - that didnt last. But we were through so much - the death of your dear, sweet father, the destruction of your hometown, Pass Christian, and then, of course, your cancer. Thats why so many people, I think, love you. Because your emotions are always so genuine, and thats why this long departed former host and anchor loves you, too.
