HBOs Game of Thrones has once again swashbuckled its way to victory on cable TVs most hotly contested night.

The complex fantasy epic slipped slightly Sunday from its audience in the previous week, but was still the leader both in total viewers and among the 18- to 49-year-olds that TV channels really treasure.

Even TV channels like HBO that dont take ads.

Thrones drew 3.766 million viewers, according to Nielsen ratings data. Thats about half a million mor e than the second-most popular show, Bravos Real Housewives of Atlanta.

AMCs acclaimed Mad Men drew 2.69 million viewers, putting it slightly behind Sunday nights new sleeper entry: Lifetimes one-two punch of Army Wives and The Client List.

Wives drew 2.91 million viewers at 9 and Client List, one of the rare shows that has been gaining audience since it debuted, had 2.85 million at 10.

The nights most-promoted debut show, the HBO dramedy Girls, premiered to 872,000 viewers.

These audience numbers all reflect live plus same-day viewing, meaning viewers who watched the actual broadcast or who recorded it for viewing that night.

Because many viewers cant or dont watch popular shows like Game of Thrones and Mad Men the same night they first air, those shows can double or triple their viewership over the course of the subsequent week.
