Angels' outfielder Torii Hunter (l.) shares a light-hearted m oment with Yankees captain Derek Jeter at the All-Star Game, but his encounter with police Wednesday was presumably a little scarier.
Angels outfielder Torii Hunter is a four-time All-Star, 9-time Gold Glove winner and is considered one of the good guys in Major League Baseball - and, for that matter, all of sports.
So, you can imagine his surprise when police showed up at his house and drew their guns.
Hunters house alarm malfunctioned and went he went outside, he was greeted by a group of police officers, weapons in hand, he tweeted.
My alarm went off in my house while I was in it. 20mins later I saw cops checking out the scene. Went outside and they drew there guns on me

Hunter, the 2011 Branch Rickey Award winner - which honors humanitarians in Major League Baseball who personify service above self, provided plenty of detail o n the encounter. We will let him tell the rest of the story:
They didn't believe I lived here in Newport coast so they walked me upstairs at gunpoint to get my ID.

Hunter, a finalist for the Roberto Clemente award (which is given to the player who represents the game of baseball through sportsmanship, community involvement and positive contributions to their clubs) in 2010 and 2011, seemed grateful for the bizzarre and what he called awkward situation.
Later, Hunter tweeted the situation was calmer than some of his followers may have thought.
Gunpoint might have been a little extreme. Just guns drawn pointing down.
