Emmanuel Adebayor: Was brought down in build-up to Spurs goal

Emmanuel Adebayor's has angrily claimed that referees are 'killing the game' after Martin Atkinon's performance in their FA Cup semi-final loss to Chelsea.

Tottenham were well beaten thrashed 5-1 at Wembly, but their task was made much harder when Atkinson allowed Juan Mata's 'ghost goal' to stand despite the fact that Benoit Assou-Ekotto cleared the Spaniard's shot before it crossed the line.

With Spurs already 1-0 down thanks to Didier Drogba's opener, they were compelled to throw men forward, and even though Gareth Bale pulled a goal back, they were ultimately hammered thanks to late goals from Ramires, Fran k Lampard and Florent Malouda.

And Adebyaor could not hide his anger after the game, telling Sky Sports News: "To be honest, we have to blame the referee.

"I think we have done well and he has made a lot of mistakes and made a lot of wrong decisions.

"We are all disappointed. But what do you want me to tell you?

"How many goals scored this season were disallowed that were onside?

"To be honest, I'm just tired of it and everyone is talking about goal-line technology.

"They have to make something happen because it's killing the league, it's killing the FA Cup, it's killing the game, it's killing everything.

Adebayor insists that when he brought down in the build-up to Spurs' goal, they would rather have had a penalty and seen Petr Cech red-carded.

"That is the thing, he caught me, he should have given a red card and penalty and to be honest, you have to blame he - he made a lot mistakes and a lot of wrong decisions," he s aid.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp agreed that they would rather have seen Cech sent-off and a penalty, rather than just having Gareth Bale's goal.

"I felt if the keeper has been sent-off and we get a penalty I would much rather of had that, the odds are we would have scored and they would have lost their keeper," he added.
