Siroâs, decorated with mahogany walls and chandeliers, is set to celebrate the Kentucky Derby on Saturday.
You dont have to be a jockey to pony up for this one.
Siros the Saratoga dining hot spot for the upstate horse-racing set opens a restaurant Friday in midtown east.
And just in time: The masculine mahogany and chandelier-bedecked eatery is ready for those looking to revel Saturday in the sports holiest holiday the Kentucky Derby.
Its big-name backers include Kevin Connolly and Kevin Dillon of the HBO series Entourage and New York Yankee pitcher Mariano Rivera.
A friends-and-family dinner was held Wednesday night, where pals of the investors and Saratoga staples took in the sporty dcor, which includes paintings and photos by George Kalinsky.
Outstanding! actor James McCaffrey, 53, of Rescue Me, said of the seafood-heavy menu including Thai Barbeque Salmon and Block Island Swordfish and a well-stocked bar.
John DeStefano, a horse-trainer and Siros investor, noted a special touch to make him feel at home: A portrait of his longtime partner, renowned Calvin Klein designer Francisco Costa, adorns the walls alongside portraits of other Saratoga notables.
Even when Franciscos not here, itll feel like he is, the handsome sportsman said.
For Derek Hester, who has yet to get to the famous horse-racing venue, Siros (885 Second Ave. at 47th St.) was like a midtown getaway.
Siros makes me feel like Im at the races in Saratoga, he said. But also really, really hungry.
Rivera, who was traveling with the Yankees, wasnt there.
Still, hes very excited and very proud of the restaurant, said Keith Kantrowitz, 52, a Brooklyn-born financier who also has a hand in the biz in both Saratoga and New York City. He hopes to be here a lot.
