EA confirms 'Battlefield 3' Premium service

Electronic Arts has confirmed the existence of a Premium service tied to its popular first-person shooter Battlefield 3.

As Joystiq reports, rumors of the Premium plan stem from a purported EA fact sheet, which details a plan to give early access to all related downloads and offer other special items and features for a one-time $ 50 fee.

Among the features broken down in this alleged fact sheet: resetting stats, acquiring new decals for emblems and "queue priority into servers."

EA has not confirmed specific features of the Premium service, but the publisher left the following statement to Joystiq: "Looks like the excitement for Battlefield Premium cannot be contained."

The next expansion for Battlefield 3, called Close Quarters, is slated to launch this summer. Two more expansions will be released later this year.

EA will likely reveal full details of the Premium service next Monday during its media briefing prior to the start of the Electronic Entertainment Expo.
