Aniston skips scene after news of Mayer's new song

Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer officially called it quits in 2009.

JENNIFER ANISTON creates buzz even when absent. The eternal hottie was slated to accept an award at the fifth annual Television Academy Honors Ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Wednesday night, but canceled at the last minute Tuesday night.

Guests were told she couldnt make it because she was very sick, but not everyone bought the excuse. Given that Anistons cancellation came after reports that John Mayers new song Shadow Days is about his heartbreaking break-up with the Horrible Bosses beauty, one insider said Aniston was actually feeling ill at the prospect of being asked a million questions about her ex and his tune. Aniston, 43, and Mayer, 34, dated on and off for a year in 2008 before finally splitting in 2009, but the singer told Rolling Stone in 2010: Ive never really gotten over it. It was one of the worst times of my life. His ex is now dating fellow actor Justin Theroux.

JUSTIN BIEBER doesnt get everything he wants. A source tells us the pop star was unable to attend his beloved bodyguard Kenny Hamiltons 31st birthday party in Los Angeles on Tuesday because he was under age. Hamilton held the bash at Agency on Hollywood Blvd., but because the venue wasnt being rented for a private event, the club had to adhere to its strict 21-and-over policy. Kid Cudi, singer Christina Milian and Rob Kardashian made the cut, but unless Bieber throws a private shindig for Hamiltons next few birthdays, he wont be able to celebrate with his protector until 2015.

TINSLEY MORTIMER has had a rollercoaster week. The ambitious blond was headed to Washington, D.C., on Wednesday to promote her novel, Southern Charm, when she learned that the oldest of her three Chihuahuas, Bella, 12, had suffered heart failure and had to be put to sleep. She was trying to get back, but it all happened so quickly, said a friend, who reminded us that Mortimer loved the dog so much shed had Bellas name tattooed on her wrist. Her book is dedicated to her canines.

The news was a big comedown from Tuesday night, when Mortimer celebrated the publication of Southern Charm, a roman clef about her ascension through the citys social ranks at C+P 164, the chic Ludlow St. event space located within the Castle & Pierpont floral design firm. Socialites Dori Cooperman, Dani Stahl and Ali Wise hosted the affair, where guests were overheard remarking that the book, which Tinz co-authored with an anonymous friend, was surprisingly well written and cheeky.

STEPHEN BALDWIN doesnt drink even when its free. A fan of The Usual Suspects actor should have done some homework before he sent Baldwin and his dude crew a round of drinks at Tao Asian Bistro on Tuesday night. The 45-year-old is 23 years sober. A source tells us the fan looked bewildered when Baldwin, whose group was sticking to nonalcoholic beverages declined the generous gesture.
