NBC plans an Olympics marathon of covera...

Bob Costas will anchor NBC’s Olympics coverage this summer.

The NBC family will carry 5,535 hours of coverage from the London Olympics this summer, the network said Wednesday.

That total, the equivalent of 231 days, will include 272.5 hours on NBC itself. Prime-time coverage will run from 8-11:30 p.m. most nights and daytime coverage will start at 10 a.m. weekdays and as early as 5 a.m. weekends.

The Games start July 27, though NBC will carry some soccer for two days before.

London is five hours ahead of New York. So little or none of the prime-time coverage, anchored by Bob Costas, will be live.

Two NBC channels will be dedicated to single sports: tennis on Bravo and boxing on CNBC.

Telemundo will carry 173 hours in Spanish.

Idol decelerates

Somewhere between last years performance finale show and this Tuesdays, American Idol lost 5 million viewers.

The 2011 performance finale drew 20 million viewers while this years drew a little less than 14.4 million, according to Nielsen figures released Wednesday.
