Thatâs Democrat Kim Kardashian on the left, above, and mom Kris Jenner on the Republican right.
KIM KARDASHIAN is a Democrat despite her parents. When we ran into the reality TV star at the White House Correspondents Dinner on Saturday, we asked her if shed met anyone on the political spectrum who had impressed her. Rick Santoro and his daughters, Kardashian said, obviously referring to porn-loathing GOP ex-presidential candidate Rick Santorum, who attended the celebripol-ooza with his girls, Sarah Maria and Elizabeth, and son Daniel. I like the family connection, she added.
We asked if that meant shes a Republican. By this time, Kim Ks mother, Kris Jenner, whod been giving us the hairy eyeball from the get-go, told us our Q&A was over, but Kim vetoed mom. Im a Democrat, she told us proudly, but my mom and dad are Republicans. We also asked Kardashian tablemate Lindsay Lohan to name the most exciting person shed met. She replied with a smile, I havent met President Obama yet. Alas, her spokesman says she didnt get the chance.
CARLOS LEON flexed his acting chops Tuesday. The personal trainer and Madonna ex wowed those inside the Cherry Lane Theater in the West Village during a private reading of former Sopranos star Vincent Pastores play Wild Children. According to a source on the scene, Leon who played a stylish 80s drug dealer ad-libbed by throwing some chairs around as well as some Tony Montana-type phrases not in the script. Pastore sat front row at the reading with former Sopranos castmate Federico Castellucio and playwright Richard Vetere.
DIDDY never got a chance to wow the crowd at Hammerstein Ballroom on Monday night. A source who attended the rapper-packed concert held there in honor of DJ Prostyles birthday says the hip-hop mogul was supposed to be a surprise performer, but chose not to go onstage due to time constraints. Wale, Fabolous, Waka Flocka Flame and Rick Ross were among those who wielded the mic, spurring excited fans, entourage members and security to crowd stage left. The weight of the beefy, unplanned crowd resulted in a section of the stage collapsing around 11 p.m. Fortunately, we hear, no one was seriously injured and the show continued after the unnecessary stage talent was cleared.
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and Jerry Lewis have just lost France to Harvey Weinstein. The movie mogul and co-chairman of the Weinstein Co. was inducted into Frances Legion DHonneur at the French Consulate on Monday night before a power crowd that included billionaires George Soros, Pete Peterson and Stephen Schwarzman, filmmaker Paul Haggis, Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi, model and Vogue Italia writer Yomi Abiola and Weinsteins wife, fashion designer Georgina Chapman.
French Ambassador Francois Delattre and Above magazine Editor Nicolas Rachline both referred to a letter from French President Nicolas Sarkozy, which referred to Weinsteins beginnings as a little boy from Flushing a detail that made Weinsteins mother, Miriam, who was in the crowd, go Awwww. Delattre also spoke of the reverence the French have for Weinstein and the fact that the company behind this years Best Picture Oscar winner, The Artist, has nicknamed Weinstein The Boss. When Weinstein spoke, he thanked brother Bob, who cracked, Call me Ro-berrrrr.
DJ CASSIDY puts his city before his pals. The celebrity spinner will deejay the New York Knicks vs. Miami Heat playoff game on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden, and he wont be spinning to spur close friend LeBron James on to victory. A source tells us Cassidy will be playing New Yorks favorite tunes and rooting for his home team. We should note that another close friend of Cassidy is Knick Carmelo Anthony, who was among the guests at the deejays 30th birthday on the Intrepid last year.
