Daily News makeover contest winner Stephania Walker (l.) with fashion consultant Stacy London at the Pink and Black Tie Gala for the American Cancer Society.

Singer Stephania Walker got to jazz up her wardrobe, thanks to the Daily News Be a Winner contest.

The Harlem songbird scored a one-on-one consultation with What Not to Wear host Stacy London and a $ 1,000 Century 21 shopping spree to make over her closet.

I needed a wardrobe intervention, admitted Walker, 50.

As part of the grand prize, she attended the Pink and Black Tie Gala last Thursday benefiting the American Cancer Societys Brooklyn patients.

The woman who used to hide her hourglass figure behind baggy gray tunics

sashayed into the Steiner Studio soiree wrapped in a stunning pink cocktail dress she picked up on her whirlwind shopping trip.

Oh my God, I didnt even recognize you! squealed London when she spotted her. You are smoking! This is the best after ever!

London has been styling cancer survivors for four years now, including a breast cancer fighter featured in her new book, The Truth About Style, coming out in October.

Getting sick can make us feel so radically different toward ourselves, said London. There are so many things that style can help do in terms of recovering psychologically, and reinforcing this idea that youre still here.

She considers her consultations startovers rather than makeovers, because you can always start over, she says. You can decide right this second that you want to change everything.

Walker was ripe for a renovation. Ive always shied away from looking good because I dont like to draw attention to myself, she said.

London realized Walker was hiding behind loose clothes because shes self-conscious about her tummy.

The more you try to cover what you dont like, the more it looks like youre trying to hide it, said London, recommending conscientious camouflage.

You can manipulate clothes to create more of an hourglass shape, she said. A belt cinches a loose dress in a more flattering way. Structured fabric can create a more ideal silhouette.

Like a lot of petite women, Walker was wearing tops that were too long for her small frame.

Never cover the crotch! said London. You immediately elongate the torso too much, and we lose part of the leg. We have squatted you.

She also encouraged Walker to start rebuilding her wardrobe by investing in a few select, expensive pieces.

Im not saying spend more than you have, said London. Instead of buying a ton of stuff, buy one or two good pieces and wear them over and over again. Nothing can replace quality.

Walker is already turning heads with her new look.
