Asian makers: Toyota April sales up 11.6%, Hyundai 1%

Toyota Motor Sales USA reported sales rose 11.6 in April vs. a year ago as sales of the refreshed 2012 Camry -- a perennial Top 10 seller in the U.S. -- were solid.

European makers: Passat drives VW sales up 31.5

Detroit makers: Chrysler sales boom, Ford , GM slip

Toyota said it sold 178,044 units in the month. It was helped by inventories of cars to sell that were back to levels normal before the tsunami in Japan last March, according to the Associated Press.

HYUNDAI

The hard-charging South Korean maker hit a speed bump. It said in a Tweet that April sales were up just 1, and gave no details.
